I would have to agree with Prof. Geer Hoftstede's quote on conflict. Culture can be the face of the country. Anything from socialism to individualism. It's sad to say people whom have a certain culture have severe hatred of others with different culture backgrounds just because of faith, stories, history, or family matters. Culture has change the European countries since the beginning of time. Some believe in just keeping your matters to yourself an not involving one's country in another countries problems. The United States on the other hand truly believes we have to go to the world's rescue no matter what. If a small island has a weather disaster you don't see England or France running to the rescue but you do see the United States right up front in the matter helping out. This all has to do with the government beliefs and the culture that created the government in the first place.

Culture is a Source of Conflict Rather Than of Synergy.
" Culture is more often a source of conflict than of synergy. Cultural differences are a nuisance at best and often a disaster." Prof. Geert Hofstede, Emeritus Professor, Maastricht University.

Sweat Shops In American
http://www.heartsandminds.org/articles/sweat.htmhttp://historymatters.gmu.edu/d/145
In this article you will find that many sweat shops are still hidden in cities across the United States. Also the companies in the under ground are either employing immigrants whom are illegal or forcing them to work under conditions the United States government would disapprove of. Seeing that we are in an economic disarray the country is missing out on taxes from these under ground companies and illegal immigrant employees. In 1996 the government suggested that over 22,000 sweat shops were scattered across the country. Seeing that in 1996 the economy was better than it is now it's suggestive to say there could be more today. Most of the sweat shops are in the apparel industry but also could be in production else wise. A great percentage of the sweat shops consist of employees sewing or running machines to make clothing. It's sad to say that the government doesn't do more. In the Clinton administration a White House Apparel Industry Partnership was created and "made up of representatives from industry, labor, government, and public-interest groups, to pursue non-regulatory solutions to sweatshop abuses in the United States and abroad." This is beneficial to know since we just watch the video clips on sweat shops in China.
Here is another website to also check out on sweat shops in New York City. http://www.heartsandminds.org/articles/sweat.htm
